Why we host at home

It belongs to us.

Every photo of the kids, every birthday video, every recipe written in someone's handwriting — these are pieces of us. They shouldn't be rented from a company.

So one quiet weekend, we built this. A small server in the house, running the software ourselves. No subscriptions, no terms of service that change overnight, no algorithm sorting through our photos to advertise something.

It's not the cheapest way to do this. It's not the easiest. But what's here is ours — and it'll still be ours in twenty years.
